Books I like
* The Ethics of What we eat by Peter Singer
This book looks at the food choices made by three different families, one eating the normal diet, one eating mindfully and one vegan. Interesting contrast between the state of factory farming in the USA and the infancy of factory farming in Australia. Is this really a path we want to take?

* What to eat by Marion Nestle
While not writing specifically about the ethics of food, Nestle does delve into the politics around our food choices. Has lots of information about nutrition and how processing affects nutritional value of foods, as well as lots of information on marketing.

* Fast food Nation by Eric Schlosser.
An older text now but sadly still very relevant look into fast food chains and food preparation. The chapter on slaughterhouses is particularly disturbing.

* The 100 mile diet by Alisa Smith and JB McKinnon .
Taking the locavore diet to the extreme, these two writers live for a year on food grown within a hundred mile radius of Vancouver, Canada. Some interesting thoughts about food miles but a little extreme for the average consumer.
